Dog Kennels Provide Your Pet Shelter

The purpose of dog kennels is to protect your pet from the harm that may happen if they are allowed to run free. Kennels allow a pet to have access to the outdoors without running free. Kennels are not cages but rather areas for your dog to be safe outdoors.

The natural reaction of your dog is to resist the kennel; they will think it is a cage. A dog can be trained to understand that a kennel is a safe space. However it is important to remember that kennels are not intended for isolation.

It is important to keep in mind when placing your pet in a kennel in warmer climates and weather that they can easily overheat in extreme temperatures and therefore you should limit placing your pet in dog kennels in the heat. You can provide them shelter with the use of a dog house or a mesh over the top of the kennel that provides them with cooler temperature and also provides increased shade. These measures can help cool down a kennel but they do not mean that your pet should be kept in dog kennels in the heat for any length of time.
